At Camp Oh-Neh-Tah, some of the strongest leaders are the ones who once walked these same paths as campers. After years of thoughtful leadership from former Camp Director J., we’re excited to step into this next chapter with our new Camp Director Anasa—whose own journey at camp began when she was just eight years old.
This year, she’s stepping into the role of Camp Director, bringing with her a deep love for Camp Oh-Neh-Tah and years of experience working with children and their families. She’s dedicated to making sure every camper feels welcomed and loved, and her fun, joyful spirit shines throughout the entire camp community.

From Camper to Director: Anasa's Story
Her camp journey started in the late ’90s and grew year after year. From camper to team leader, and later counselor, she experienced camp from every angle. “I did the whole track,” she shares. “And I really worked for it.”
That journey wasn’t always smooth. “The year I thought I was going to become a teen leader, I didn’t. I had some counselor drama—it just wasn’t my best summer.”
But she came back the following year. “When I finally became a team leader, I was so excited. That program is really close to my heart because it’s something you had to earn.”
Her years as a counselor became some of her favorites. “We had people from all over—England, Australia, New Zealand. I still talk to some of them today. Those are connections I never would have made without camp.”
“Camp stays with you. The friendships, the confidence, the feeling of belonging—that’s what I want every camper to experience.” – Camp Director
Camp Memories That Last
Ask her about her favorite place at camp, and one name comes up instantly: Chinook. “It just always had something special. No matter the year, it was the place to be.”
Getting to be a counselor there made it even more meaningful. “That was definitely a highlight for me.”
Her Vision for Camp
Returning to camp now as Director brings both excitement and inspiration. “I’m really excited to be back. I want to see what’s still the same, what’s new, and create new memories.”
Her approach isn’t about changing everything. It’s about bringing back what worked and making it meaningful for today’s campers. “I’m tapping into the things I remember loving.”
What to Expect This Summer
This summer will focus on confidence, creativity, and connection.
• Drama and creative expression
• Runway-style confidence workshop
• Nature experiences and possible animal visits
“I just want to bring nature closer to the girls,” she says. “Especially for kids coming from the city—it’s something really special.”
Looking Ahead
With her deep roots in camp and her passion for creating meaningful experiences, this summer is set to be one filled with growth, laughter, and connection.
We’re so excited to welcome her back—this time as Camp Director—and can’t wait to see the memories she helps create.
