Wheter you're a first time camper or a returning one, your arrival sets the stage for an exciting sumemer filled with friendship, outdoor fun, and lifelong memories. Here's everyting you need to know about your first day at our sleepaway camp in Upstate New York!
A Warm Welcome from Our Counselors
Your adventure begins at noon when you arrive at camp. Our team of friendly camp counselors will be at the entrance, ready to greet you with enhusiasm and big smiles. From the very start, you'll feel like part of the Camp Oh-Neh-Tah family.

Checkin In & Meeting Your Cabin Crew
After you've checked in, you’ll head to your cabin to meet your cabin counselors and mates. Unpacking can wait because we jump right into fun icebreaker games to help you bond with your new camp friends.
Meeting Nurse Claudia
One of your first stops will be a visit to Nurse Claudia, our dedicated health specialist. She ensures every camper stays happy, healthy, and safe. If you take medication or have any allergies, this is the time to go over all the details. Our goal is to make sure you're comfortable and ready for an amazing summer!
Diving Into Your First Activities
No time to waste—the fun begins right away! On your first day, you’ll get a sneak peek of some of the exciting activities Camp Oh-Neh-Tah has to offer. While our activities vary each year depending on the counselors we hire, campers have enjoyed:
Boating & Swimming 🏊♀️ – Cool off in the lake with lifeguard-supervised water fun.
Arts & Crafts 🎨 – Get creative with painting, friendship bracelets, and more.
Drama & Music 🎭🎶 – Express yourself with acting and singing.

Yoga & Sports 🧘⚽ – Enjoy stretching, movement, and teamwork.
Campers can choose their activities based on their interests, and no two summers are ever the same!
The Fun Fire: A Camp Tradition!
One of the most exciting parts of your first day is our legendary Fun Fire! Each cabin gets to introduce themselves with a fun skit, song or dance, creating an electric atmosphere of laughter and camp spirit. It's the perfect way to kick off the summer and celebrate being part of something special.
