Today, we had the honor of joining a community event at P.S.85 in the Bronx—a neighborhood gathering full of energy, music, and family fun. As part of our ongoing outreach, we set up a table, hoping to connect with future campers, answer questions, and share the heart of our mission.
Our goal with events like these is simple but powerful: to bring the camp spirit into the community. To show the real people behind the magic of summer. And to meet the girls who might one day stand on Mount Zoar, paddle across our lake, or find their voice around a campfire.

How One Girl Discovered Camp Oh-Neh-Tah
That’s when we met her.
Ten years old. A little shy at first, then curious. She kept circling back to our table, asking questions, looking through photos. Her eyes sparkled with that unmistakable look—hope mixed with excitement. A future camper, we could just feel it.
Her mom wasn’t quite sure what camp was all about. But thanks to a generous community member who helped translate, we were able to share everything: the dates, the magic, the friendships, the growth, the joy. And right there, with our help, her mom started the application process.
The little girl beamed. Her smile said it all.
This is why we show up. Camp Oh-Neh-Tah isn’t just about summer fun—it’s about access, connection, and building pathways for girls to thrive. We’re proud to be part of these moments, where a conversation at a table turns into a new adventure.
